Leonard G. Hummert, 82, of rural Mascoutah, IL, born Jan. 30, 1929 in Fayetteville Township, IL, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011 at the Grange Nursing Home in Mascoutah, IL.
Mr. Hummert was a retired farmer; member of St. Pancratius Catholic Church, Fayetteville; St. Libory American Legion Post 683; Mascoutah VFW Post 7682; St. Libory Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2017; St. Clair County Farm Bureau; and a U. S. Army Korean War veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Mary, nee Wesselmann, Hummert; a son, Timothy “Flounder” Hummert; two brothers, Raymond and Norbert Hummert; and two sisters, Hilaria Lickenbrock and Irma Lohman.
He is survived by his wife, Joe Nell, nee Lawrence, Hummert who he married in Caseyville, IL on July 2, 1966; a son, Lynn Hummert of Mascoutah, IL; three sisters, Eleanor Demick of Indiana, Doris Jean (Ralph) Sandheinrich of St. Libory, IL, and Jeanette Rakers of Mascoutah, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of all other gifts, memorials may be made to St. Pancratius Cemetery Fund; or in the form of Masses; or to the family’s choice.
Visitation: friends may call from 4 to 9 PM Friday, Aug. 19, 2011 and from 8 to 10 AM Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011 at St. Pancratius Catholic Church, Fayetteville, IL.
Funeral: a funeral Mass will be held 10 AM Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011 at St. Pancratius Catholic Church in Fayetteville, IL with Rev. Kenneth York officiating. Military services will be provided by the American Legion Post 683 following the Mass. Cremation will take place and a private burial will be held in St. Pancratius Cemetery at a later date.
