Marcella F. Johnson

Marcella F. “Sally” Johnson, nee Demick, 90, of St. Libory, IL, born Feb. 22, 1921 in Pinckneyville, IL, died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011 at her home in St. Libory.


Marcella worked with her husband Otto at the State Bank of St. Libory where she was a director for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker; member of St. Liborius Catholic Church; St. Liborius Council of Catholic Women; 50+ year member of the St. Libory American Legion Auxiliary; and Daughters of Isabella.


Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Otto B. Johnson, Sr. whom she married in Cicero, IL on Apr. 8, 1942 and who died Aug. 2, 2005; her parents, Joseph J. and Josephine L., nee Matychowiak, Demick; and two brothers, Stanley and Bernard Demick.


Surviving are her seven children, Henry J. Johnson, Joseph O. (Min) Johnson, Patricia A. (Lloyd) Sandheinrich, Otto B. “Bubber” (Janice) Johnson Jr., Kathleen J. (Rodger) Cook, Michael A. Johnson, and Cynthia T. (Arnold) Schmale all of St. Libory, IL; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Heil of Freeburg, IL; and a brother, Herman (Lyla) Demick of Sparta, IL.


Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Thursday, August 25, 2011 and from 8 to 10:45 AM Friday, Aug. 26, 2011 at St. Liborius Catholic Church in St. Libory, IL.


Funeral: A funeral Mass will be held 11 AM Friday, Aug. 26, 2011 at St. Liborius Catholic Church in St. Libory with Fr. Stan Konieczny officiating. Burial will be in St. Liborius Catholic Cemetery, St. Libory, IL.
