Marlene A., nee Theismann, Underwood, 74, of Mascoutah, IL, born Dec. 31, 1936 in St. Libory, IL, died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011 at the MarKa Nursing Home in Mascoutah, IL.


Marlene owned and operated Marlene’s Upholstery in Mascoutah from 1980 to 2009. She was a member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church, Mascoutah.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Underwood whom she married in Bernie, MO, Dec. 13, 1969 and who died March 9, 1996, her parents, Henry and Josephine, nee Jansen, Theismann, three sisters, Ruth Ann Scheibel, Esther Renth, and Linda Kaffer, a brother, Harold Theismann, three brothers-in-law, Joseph Dressler, Gary Campbell and Lee Richter.


She is survived by a daughter, Carol (Rick) Pass of Collinsville, IL; a son, Daryl (Donna) Underwood of Mascoutah, IL; two granddaughters, Katie and Kennedy Underwood; a brother, Norman (Terri Balsman) Theismann of Perryville, MO; five sisters, Patricia Richter of Waterloo, IL, Jane (Louis) Sindel of Mascoutah, IL, Joyce (Wes Cook) Campbell of Warsaw, MO, Virginia (Dave) Brutto of Swansea, IL and Joan (Gerard) Newport of Vienna, MO; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Theismann of St. Libory, IL; three brothers-in-law, Ralph Scheibel of Kirkwood, MO, Al Renth of Mascoutah, IL and Ken Kaffer of Belleville, IL; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: From 4 to 8 PM Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL. A prayer service will be at held 4:00 PM Sunday.


Funeral: A funeral mass will be held 10 AM Monday, Sept. 12, 2011 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah with Fr. Abraham Adejoh and Fr. Pat Jakel officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
