Dixie L. Kunkle

Dixie L. Kunkle, nee Woodside, 63, of Mascoutah, IL, born Dec. 2, 1947 in Willisville, IL, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2011 at her residence.


Dixie was the head housekeeper, supervisor, and CNA at the MarKa Nursing Home in Mascoutah, IL for 32 years. She was a member and past officer of the Mascoutah Women of the Moose Chapter 392 since 2000.


She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Kunkle, Sr. who she married in E. St. Louis, IL in July 1965 and who died Apr. 7, 1998; a daughter, Dianna Kay Kunkle, her parents, Elmer and Mabel, nee Crisler, Woodside; and a sister, Nellie Woodside.


She is survived by two children, James L. (Jackie) Kunkle, Jr. of O’Fallon, IL, and Christy (Craig) Klingelhoefer of Mascoutah, IL; four grandchildren, Adriene (fiancé Jacob Muller) England, Taylor Kunkle, Brandon and Kaylee Curl; a sister, Janet (David) Daubach of Collinsville, IL; nieces, nephews; and dear friend, Hank Hobdy of Mascoutah, IL.


Dixie was a loving mother, wonderful grandmother, and friend to all.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 9 PM Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL; and from 10 to 11 AM Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011 at the church. A Women of the Moose Ritual will be held 7 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home.


Funeral: Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011 at Parkview Church of the Nazarene in Fairview Heights, IL with Retired Pastor Bill Kunkle officiating. Burial will be in Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville IL.
