Dorothy Margaret Symank, nee Deis, 94, of Mascoutah, IL, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at the Terrace On The Park in Mascoutah, IL.
Dorothy retired as Bookkeeper from the Mascoutah School District. She was, until recently, an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mascoutah, and a lifetime member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Married to Reverend Walter H. Symank, she traveled, served, and raised her family in Bowie and Cisco, TX, Mobile and Foley, AL, Carlyle, Mascoutah, and Highland, IL, and Chalmette, LA.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her father, Henry G. Deis, her mother Helen Deis, and her husband, Reverend Walter H. Symank.
She is survived by her three children, Donald (Judith) Symank of Sunset Hills, MO, Carolyn (Norman) Rowold of New Baden, IL, and John (Nancy) Symank of Danville, CA; seven grandchildren, Susan (Charles) Brueggemann of Trenton, IL, Kay (Jeffry) Zimmermann of New Baden, IL, David (Lisa) Rowold of Trenton, IL, Christopher (Lisa) Symank of San Ramon, CA, Pamela (John) Volpe of Petaluma, CA, Scott (Michelle) Symank of Sunset Hills, MO, and Matthew (Narcissa) Symank of Webster Groves, MO; 10 great-grandchildren, Beth and Alicia Brueggemann, Kyle and Courtney Zimmermann, Blake and Brooke Rowold, John, Scott, and Paul Symank, and William Symank.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 PM Friday, Oct. 28, 2011 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL, and from 9:30 to 10:30 AM Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011 at the church.
Funeral: A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kirk M. Clayton officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, New Memphis, IL.
