Cleola M. "Cleo" Miller

Cleola M. “Cleo” Schaefer Miller, nee Mueth, 87, of Mascoutah, IL, born Oct. 25, 1924 in Paderborn, IL, died Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL.


Cleo was formerly employed by Martha Manning Dress Factory and was an advertising salesperson for the County Journal. She was a member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah; and Holy Childhood Council of Catholic Women.


She was preceded in death by her parents, John A. and Mathilda, nee Schaefer, Mueth; her first husband, C. J. Neil Schaefer who died July 5, 1960; second husband, Weiland “Bud” Miller who she married in Mascoutah, IL on June 10, 1961 and who died Dec. 11, 1997; a daughter, Joan Powers; a son, Wayne Miller; and a sister Clara Steppig.


She is survived by two sons, Thomas (Michele) Schaefer of Mascoutah, IL, and James Miller of Sanbornton, NH; two daughters-in-law, Michelle Miller of Mascoutah, IL and Kate Miller of Henniker, NH; 10 grandchildren, Kelsie and Alaina Schaefer, Steven (Kim) Powers, Dean Powers, Kevin Miller, Hien, Chien, Effie, Kanika, and Jesse Miller; four great-grandchildren, Jaylen, Emmi, Coleton and Jaden; a sister, Leona (Hubert) Ahring of O’Fallon, IL; a brother Louis (Pearl) Mueth of Hecker, IL; sister-in-law, Sister Martha Ann Schaefer of St. Louis, MO; nieces, nephews and cousins.


Memorials may be made to the Wayne Miller Memorial Scholarship Fund, Attn. Mascoutah Noon Lions, P. O Box 157, Mascoutah, IL 62258, or Holy Childhood Memorial Improvement Fund, P. O. Box 160, Mascoutah, IL 62258; or in the form of Masses.


Visitation: From 4 to 8 PM Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL. A prayer service will be at held 4:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.


Funeral: A funeral mass will be held 10 AM Monday, Oct. 31, 2011 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah with Msgr. Jerome Hartlein, Msgr. Ken Schaefer, and Rev. Ed Schaefer officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
