Joseph H. Bechtoldt

Joseph H. Bechtoldt, 95, of Mascoutah, IL, born Nov. 5, 1916 in Shiloh Valley Township, IL, died Wednesday, Nov. 09, 2011 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, IL.


Joe was a retired grain and livestock farmer, a member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church, Mascoutah Moose Lodge #815 and St. Clair County Farm Bureau.


He was preceded in death by a son David Bechtoldt, three grandchildren, Angelita Vander Bol, Daniel Bechtoldt and Paula Henson, his parents, Joseph E. and Agnes M., nee Cordie, Bechtoldt, and two sisters, Loretta Haas and Margaret Schlichter.


He is survived by his wife Dolores “Dee” M., nee Zimmerman, Bechtoldt whom he married in Trenton, IL Jan. 22, 1947; three sons, Joseph (Sandi) Bechtoldt of Swansea, IL, Donald Bechtoldt of Belleville, IL and George (Michele) Bechtoldt of New Baden, IL; 4 daughters, Diane (Ralph) Di Tucci of O’Fallon, IL, Charlotte (Ronald) Vander Bol of Farmington, MO, Carol (Gerald) Vonderheide of Swansea, IL and Jane (Don) Grodeon of Mascoutah, IL; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren;1 great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Dolores Deeke, Helen Bechtoldt and Mildred Hulliung, all of Mascoutah, IL.
Memorials may be made to Holy Childhood Memorial Improvement Fund.


Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL. There will be a prayer service held 4 PM Friday.


Funeral: A funeral Mass will be held 10 AM Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church with Msgr. Jerome Hartlein, Father Von Deeke and Fr. Abraham Adejoh officiating. Burial will be in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery in Mascoutah.
