James Kurt Niederer, 78, of Mascoutah, IL, born July 4, 1933 in Winterthur, Switzerland, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.
Jim worked at Niederer’s Dairy, his family’s business in East St. Louis, IL, until it closed in 1972 and then went to work for Illinois Distributing where he retired. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 50; Mascoutah Moose Lodge #815 and has been a Moose member for over 50 years; and a U. S. Army Korean War veteran.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Holpp; his adoptive mother, Mary Niederer, and a granddaughter, Kara Bierman-Niederer.
He is survived by his wife, Janet I., nee Deatherage, Niederer who he married in E. St. Louis, IL on Apr. 7, 1956; two sons, Michael (Susan) Niederer of Mascoutah, IL, and John (Kim) Niederer of Belleville, IL; a grandson, Wesley (Rachael) Niederer of Schererville, IN; four great grandsons, Gilbert, Harrison, Austin and Sam; two brothers-in-law, Daniel Deatherage of Hollywood, FL, and James (Kim) Deatherage of Bradenton, FL; a sister-in-law, Doris McIntosh of Millstadt, IL; and a cousin Gloria (Gerald) Cox of Marissa, IL.

Visitation: visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011 and from 9 to 11 AM Monday, Nov. 14, 2011 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL. A Moose ritual will be held at 7 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Funeral: funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, Nov. 14, 2011 at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah with Dr. Steven Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Mascoutah City Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
