Patricia A. Knoth, nee Wombacher, 73, of Mascoutah, IL, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011 after a short battle with cancer. She left this world surrounded by her loving family and her dogs.
Pat was a bookkeeper for the family business, Knoth’s (Shell) Sunoco, for many years; she then worked for Sparta Ford as a file clerk. When her first grandchild was born, she became a full time grandma to her grandkids and adopted grandkids. Family and her dogs were the love of her life. She, and her husband Harold, were very active in the MIA, Mascoutah Homecoming, and Bingo. Whenever Harold said “we’ll do it”, Pat was behind him 100%. She will be missed by many. She was a member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah; Holy Childhood Council of Catholic Women; MIA; and Mascoutah Women of the Moose Chapter 392.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Elsie, nee Haas, Wombacher; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Albert and Agnes Knoth; a brother, Louis “Jim” Wombacher; three sisters, Marian Huber, Susanne Gardner, and Betty Pruett; brothers-in-law, Kenny Laquet, Harlan Hayes, Henry Huber, Jake Pruett, Larry, Gary, and Francis Knoth.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Harold Knoth, Sr.; a son, Harold (Joyce) Knoth, Jr.; a daughter, Phyllis (Rick) Johnson; three grandchildren, Lisa (Gary) Fertig, Melissa (fiancé Jarrod Zwetow) Johnson, and Kim Jones; six great-grandchildren, Katie, Kevin, and Collin Fertig, Jonathan, Justin, and Kaylee Jones; three brothers, Paul (Helen) Wombacher, Charles (Darlene) Wombacher, and Donald (Janice) Wombacher; four sisters, Ruth Pope, Rita (Jack) Wilson, Kathleen Hayes, and Rosalie Laquet; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Hommel, Pat (Gene) Albers, Elvira Knoth, and Nell Knoth; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials may be made to Mascoutah Improvement Assn. (MIA), Holy Childhood Memorial Improvement Fund, or Family Hospice.
Visitation: from 4 to 9 PM Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011 and from 8 to 9:30 AM Monday, Nov. 28, 2011 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL. A prayer service will be held 4:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral: a funeral Mass will be held 10 AM Monday, Nov. 28, 2011 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah with Msgr. Jerome Hartlein officiating. Burial will be in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery.
