Doris J. Doering Frederick Herges, nee Dayton, 85, of Mascoutah, IL, born Aug. 8, 1926 in Montevideo, MN died Monday, Dec. 5, 2011 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.


Doris was a Red Cross volunteer; worked for Remington-Rand in Minnesota; was a homemaker; and worked at McDonald’s in St. Cloud, MN. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah, IL; a life member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 4847 in St. Cloud, MN; member of Cootie Pup Tent 62; the American Legion Auxiliary 193 in Becker, MN; and a 13+ gallon blood donor.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Dora, nee Bonrud, Dayton; a son, Douglas Doering, a daughter, Mary Katherine Doering in infancy; a son-in-law, Donovan Minder; a brother, Jerome Dayton; and a sister, Margaret Swenson.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert C. Herges who she married in Mascoutah, IL on Aug. 7, 1999; three daughters, Dorene Minder of Burleson, TX, Cheryl (Richie) Latham of Monticello, MN, and Pauline (Rick, Jr.) Temple of Sauk Rapids, MN; five sons, Ronald (Jill) Doering of Percy, IL, Wayne (Patsy) Doering of Burleson, TX, Michael (Susan) Doering of Becker, MN, Frank (Dorothy) Frederick of Cedar, MN, and Dean (Sheila) Doering of Chisholm, MN; two stepchildren, Michael (Barb) Herges of Salinas, CA, and Patricia (Mark) Schanz of Mascoutah, IL; 25 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; a step-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, or the American Red Cross Blood Program.


Visitation: friends may call from 10 am to 12 noon Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.


Funeral: a funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011 at the funeral home with the Rev. Hugh Fitz officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral service. A memorial service will be held in Minnesota at a later date.
