Donald W. Glaeser

Donald W. Glaeser, 75, of Smithton, IL, born Jan. 25, 1936 in Mascoutah, IL, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family.


Don served in the U. S. Air Force from 1956 to 1962. He was a supervisor for the U. S. Army Aviation Systems Command in St. Louis for 31 years. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church in Belleville, IL where he was head usher; served on various committees, and the administrative council; and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Don enjoyed restoring cars and taking them to car shows.


He was preceded in death by his father, Bert W. Glaeser; an infant son, Jeffrey Lynn Glaeser; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Weldon and Marjorie, nee Reinhardt, Heinke; a sister-in-law, Colleen Johnson; and a nephew, David Bauer.


He is survived by his wife, Arlene M., nee Heinke, Glaeser who he married in Belleville, IL on Jan. 31, 1959; two sons, Scott (Nancy) Glaeser of Millstadt, IL, and Bradley (Lisa) Glaeser of Smithton, IL; three granddaughters, Samantha, Megan, and Sarah Glaeser all of Millstadt, IL; his mother, Lela M., nee Brower, Glaeser of Mascoutah, IL; a sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Betty (Paul) Bauer of Shiloh, IL, and Charles Johnson of Belleville, IL; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.


Don was a kind, caring, and loving husband, father, grandfather, and son.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 9 PM Friday, Dec. 9, 2011 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL, and from 9 to 10 AM Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011 at Union United Methodist Church in Belleville.


Funeral: A funeral service will be held 10 AM Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011 at Union United Methodist Church in Belleville with Rev. Edward Weston officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fairview Heights, IL.
