Judith S. “Judy” Dietz, nee Hall, 71, of Mascoutah, IL, born July 3, 1940 in Mt. Vernon, IL, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, IL.
Judy was a retired school teacher from Mascoutah Community High School where she taught PE and Drivers Ed for over 30 years. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah, IL where she helped teach confirmation several years, served on various committees of the church, member of the Fireside Club, past president of the church council, she made video’s of worship services for the home bound, was a sound person for worship services, and a big supporter of Vacation Bible School. Judy served on the following committees on the Illinois South Conference of the United Church of Christ – Church and Ministry, Conference Planning, Capital Campaign 2002, and the Board of Directors from 1994 to 1998. Locally, she was a City Council Woman from 1998 to 2006 for the City of Mascoutah, was a Mascoutah Main Street member, and was a member of the Mascoutah Chamber of Commerce.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Alleta, nee Jenkins, Hall; a nephew, Todd Ryan, and a niece, Bonnie Hall.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel Dietz who she married in Mascoutah, IL on June 8, 1968; a son, Brian (Renee) Dietz of Belleville, IL; a granddaughter, Chloe Dietz; a brother, Lawrence Hall of Mt. Vernon, IL; two sisters, Sharon Fisher of Big Rock, IL, and Phyllis (Dave) Ash of Urbana, IL; three sisters-in-law, Marilyn Bright of Belleville, IL, Barbara (Richard) Peters of Oswego, NY, and Carol Thompson of Cincinnati, OH; nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Memorials may be made to Vacation Bible School, or the Leu Civic Center.
Visitation: visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL and from 9 to 10 AM Friday, Dec. 30, 2011 at St. John United Church of Christ, Mascoutah, IL.
Funeral: funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday, Dec. 30, 2011 at St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah with the Rev. Hugh Fitz officiating. Burial will be in Valhalla Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
