James W. Morio, 70, of Mascoutah, IL born on June 9, 1941 in Staten Island, NY, passed away suddenly on March 14, 2012, at his home.
Mr. Morio received his bachelor’s degree at Wagner College in Staten Island, NY. He played AA ball for the Cincinnati Reds Baseball Organization, before enlisting in the United States Navy. He was a retired high school teacher at Mascoutah High School, and taught Spanish, World Cultures and History. He was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Mascoutah, and a supporter of the Looking Glass Playhouse in Lebanon, IL, where he performed in many musical productions. He volunteered at the Mascoutah Senior Center by delivering Meals on Wheels and also led worship services monthly at the Mascoutah nursing homes. Jim was best known for his beautiful singing voice. He was always willing to sing for weddings, funerals, church, and charities. His wife, kids, grandkids, family, and church family were the loves of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Augusta, nee Heintze, Morio; a brother, Walter H. Morio; father-in-law, Robert Grodeon; and a grandson, Stefan Shartouny.
Surviving are his wife, Suzanne, nee Grodeon, Morio, of Mascoutah, whom he married on October 2, 1965 in Mascoutah, IL, children Jill Morio Adkins, of Mascoutah, and Andrew Morio, of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Payton and Callie Adkins, of Mascoutah, and Victoria Morio Shartouny, Jessica Shartouny, and Melyssa Munn of Potomac Falls, VA; sister-in-law Kathleen Morio, of Mascoutah; mother-in-law, Esther Grodeon, of Mascoutah; brothers-in-law, Gerald (Christine) Grodeon, and Don (Jane) Grodeon, of Mascoutah, and sister-in-law Jana (Dallas) Eytchison, of Columbia, IL, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Moll Funeral Home, in Mascoutah, IL, and from 9 to 10 AM Monday, March 19, 2012 at Bethel United Methodist Church in Mascoutah, IL.
Funeral: Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2012, at Bethel United Methodist Church, in Mascoutah, IL, with Pastor Jason Woolever officiating. Burial will be in Mascoutah City Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
