Ira Queener

Ira Queener, 79, of Mascoutah, IL, born Sept. 7, 1932 in LaFollette, TN, died Monday, Mar. 12, 2012 at the MarKa Nursing Home in Mascoutah.


Ira retired as a telephone maintenance foreman from Civil Service at Scott Air Force Base after 43 years; he then worked for several years at True Value Hardware in Mascoutah. He also worked at the Mascoutah Senior Center and delivered Meals on Wheels. Ira was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mascoutah and served as a deacon. He enjoyed gardening and was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War.


He is preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Martha, nee Campbell, Queener; five brothers and three sisters.


Ira is survived by his wife, Martha L., nee Pierce, Queener, who he married in LaFollette, TN on July 2, 1955; three sons, Mark (Rhonda) Queener of Mascoutah, IL, Steven (Kelly) Queener of Barnhart, MO, and William (Calysta) Queener of Middletown, DE; five grandchildren, Scott (Cindie) Queener, Brian Queener, Aaron Queener, Dana (Tim) Holmes, and Michael Queener; five great-grandchildren, Hannah and Sophia Queener, Reagan and Brielle Queener, and Molly Holmes; a sister, Alice (Charles) Norman of Church Hill, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, or to Heartland Hospice.


Visitation: will be held from 4 to 9 PM Wednesday, Mar. 14, 2012 at the Moll Funeral Home, Mascoutah, IL, and from 9 to 10 AM Thursday, Mar. 15, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Mascoutah, IL.


Funeral: funeral services will be held 10 AM Thursday, Mar. 15, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Mascoutah with Pastor Duane Smith officiating. Burial will be in Mascoutah City Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
