Irene E. “Pat” Harris Roper, nee Kitchen, 76, of Mascoutah, IL, formerly of Belleville, IL, born July 14, 1935 in Belleville, IL, died Monday, January 2, 2012 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL.


Pat was a mother, homemaker, and the wife of a career U. S. Navy man. She enjoyed writing, gardening, reading, and a good game of Scrabble. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 392, Mascoutah, IL; and the Mascoutah Senior Citizens.


Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Irene R., nee Bujnak, Kitchen; her husband, Norman T. Harris who she married in Waterloo, IL on Apr. 14, 1952 and who died Nov. 9, 1975; a son, Norman T. Harris, Jr. in infancy; a sister, Leatrice Pierce; and a brother, Robert Kitchen.


Surviving are three children, Pattie (Tim) Harris Murphy of North Fort Myers, FL, Beth (Eddie) Hulliung of Mascoutah, IL, and Keith T. (Cathy) Harris of Mascoutah, IL; four grandchildren: Jeffrey T. Harris, “Grandma’s Girls”, Jennifer Lynn (Brandon) Harris Meddows, Jamie (Brock) Hulliung Stein, and Trisha (Bill) Hulliung Klees; six great-grandchildren, Morrisa, Kylie, Noah and Paisley Meddows, and Madison and Mackenzie Stein; a sister, Ilene Wetzel of Shiloh, IL; numerous nieces and nephews.


Memorials may be made to the Mascoutah Moose Lodge 815, 101 N. Second St., Mascoutah, IL 62258.


Visitation: from 4 to 8 PM Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012 at the Moll Funeral Home, Mascoutah, IL. A Women of the Moose Ritual will be held at 6:30 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home.


Funeral: funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday, Jan. 6, 2012 at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah with The Rev. Hugh Fitz officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
