 Antoinette M. Sommer

 

 

   Antoinette M. Sommer, nee Meier, 86, of St. Libory, IL, born July 16, 1922 in Albers, IL, died Thursday, May 28, 2009 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, IL.

   She was a lifelong homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She was a member of St. Liborius Catholic Church, St. Libory, IL; Daughters of Isabella, and St. Liborius Council of Catholic Women.

   Antoinette was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Mary, nee Heckenkemper, Meier; two children in infancy, Richard and Karen Sommer; a son-in-law, Ralph Surmeier; a sister, Dolores Zurliene; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert Zurliene, Leo Scheiper, Harry and Alberta Wienstroer, Oscar and Dorothy Schmidt, and Leonard and Evelyn Sommer.

   She is survived by her husband, Lawrence M. Sommer, whom she married in Albers, IL on Nov. 17, 1942; six children, Eileen Surmeier of St. Libory, IL, Raymond (Sue) Sommer of St. Libory, IL, Gerry (Betty) Sommer of Freeburg, IL, James (Jackie) Sommer of Freeburg, IL, Jane Beimfohr of Okawville, IL, and Geralyn (James) Hollis of Charlotte, NC; 18 grandchildren, Lynn (Dave) McCammon, Darrell Surmeier, Shelly (Tim) Ryan, Sara (Jim) Rockaway, Joel Sommer, Ryan Sommer, Megan Sommer, Dan (Jeannie) Sommer, Matthew Sommer, Becky (Ben Mueth) Sommer, Jacob Sommer, Kayla Sommer, Melissa Sommer, Valerie (Chad) Lappe, Brent Beimfohr, Michael Hollis, Jordan Hollis, and Tanner Hollis; three step-grandchildren, Mallory and Molly Ludwig, and Olivia Otten; seven great grandchildren, Ben, Emily and Jack McCammon, Connor, Daniel and Meghan Ryan, and Rhyan Lappe; three step-great grandchildren, Ben, Jake and Sam Rockaway; two sisters, Lucinda Scheiper of St. Libory, IL, and Esther (Gene) Dierkes of Germantown, IL; two brothers, Linus (Bernadine) Meier of Albers, IL, and Gervase Meier of Cincinnati, OH.

   In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Liborius Church, Alzheimer’s Assn., or in the form of masses.  Condolences can be expressed by visiting mollfuneralhome.com.

   Visitation:  Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2009 and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2009 at the Moll Funeral Home in St. Libory, IL.  A prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday followed by a Daughters of Isabella service at the funeral home.

   Funeral:  A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2009 at St. Liborius Catholic Church with Rev. Dennis Voss officiating.  Burial will be in St. Liborius Catholic Cemetery.
