Eugene J. “Pete” Petrovich, 84, of Mascoutah, IL, born Mar. 27, 1928 in Detroit, MI, died Sunday, Apr. 22, 2012 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, IL. He is now at home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Pete retired as a MSgt. from the U. S. Air Force in 1969; he retired from Civil Service in 1990; and he also worked for Sears and Kmart. He was a member of Faith Family Church in Shiloh, IL; the American Legion Post 292 in Mascoutah, IL; lifetime member of the Mascoutah VFW Post 7682; Am Vets Post 0161; and was a Korean War and Vietnam War veteran. He was inducted into the Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame; the Granite City Softball Hall of Fame; and the Belleville City League Hall of Fame. For many years, he played for and helped organize the Oldtimers Charity game, raising money for Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rose, nee Kulich, Petrovich; three brothers and three sisters.
Pete is survived by his wife, Glenda S., nee Conley, Petrovich, who he married in Wise, WV on June 10, 1958; two children, Karen (Danny) Attayek of Garden City, SC, and Michael John (Ellie) Petrovich of Columbia, IL.

Visitation: will be held from 4 to 9 PM Thursday, Apr. 26, 2012 and from 10 AM to 12:30 PM Friday, Apr. 27, 2012 at the Moll Funeral Home, Mascoutah, IL. An American Legion service will be held at 5 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral: funeral services will be held 12:30 PM Friday, Apr. 27, 2012 at the Moll Funeral Home with Pastor John Temple officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
